Sitting amidst rich people

I went to Super Market a few days back and it was after quite some time. I think I saw some changes in the people or was it the area it self, I haven't figured that out yet. I guess people of Isloo are changing because of enlightened moderation. More of the girls were wearing jeans and shirts. Anyway who cares? People have the right to wear what ever they want to wear!
I had basically went to buy a book to read (which I did in the end). I noticed a marked increase in the prices of the books, even in the pirated ones. I bought a book buy John Grisham and finished it in a day. John Grisham is one of my favorite authors.
I may have mentioned earlier that I notice a lot in my surroundings and what's happening around me. While going around in the market I saw for an instant a middle aged man while passing in front of him, who sitting infront of a shop selling socks! I think his legs were either broken or he had some disease. The socks on display were only few in number possibly 8-10. And they seemed to be of the lowest quality. And I wondered for rest of the night about the life of that poor guy who trying to earn a living in the harsh cold weather. Who was at the mercy of the rich. I felt sorry for him but what could people like me do except just pray to Allah. One of my priority in life would be to help poor people like these in the future ( provided that I was very rich).

Tests

I took some tests on this website so here are the results...

Your life is pretty normal - sometimes great, sometimes not so great.
You have a lot of good stuff going on. Your life may be more perfect than you realize.

Your Attitude is Better than 65% of the Population

You have a good attitude. While a realist, you do see the positive side of most things. People love to be around you.

You Are A Romantic Realist

And once you're in love, you can be a total romantic goofball...

But you'd never admit it to your friends!

You Are Bold And Brave

But daring? Not usually?

You tend to like to make calculated risks.

So while you may not be base jumping any time soon...

You are up for whatever's new and (a little) exciting!

While you're not sarcastic at all times, you definitely have a cynical edge.

In your opinion, not all people are annoying. Some are dead!

Alone in the dark...

Here I sit in the my room in dark and the time on my PC's clock is 12:27 am. I am wondering if I should be asleep in bed or not. I feel that I am slowly moving into oblivion and it feels good like that. I have a physics test tomorrow and my preparation for it as always seems to be unsatisfactory!
I can hear people walking above my floor and I wonder what they are doing at this hour of the night( most probably the girls must be watching TV). I had been thinking about this trip to Donga Gali( some place near Murree) for some days now. I have got flu and throat infection due to the cold. The trip sounds tempting so in the end I decided to go as some of my friends are going( its a school trip) and it would be fun if there was snow there!
Moreover its the last year in high school so I thought I would attend every event this year. Its been a while since I have been on night prowling. My brother snores and for a moment I got curious whether I snore or not. Who cares?( Maybe my wife will when I get married. Still a long way for that...)
I have to register for SAT2 and today I heard someone say that the seats for the test have already been taken both in Islamabad and Lahore. Thanks to my ever slow and retarded brain. Damit!
Simultaneously I am also orkuteering! Orkut has taken Pakistan by storm! Now that the population of paindo people is more than the decent ones I was thinking of switching to My Spaces. Thanks to their fraindsheep messages they can be noticed every where( I wonder why don't they correct the spelling)! I already have an account there but I didn't like its interface. Anyway SPIDER has speculated that Orkut is out and My Spaces is in! Although I disagree with that because Orkut is much easier and faster.
Haaaaaaaa...! I think I better sleep...

Being Blind

The world cup for the blind has started recently in Islamabad and the matches are only being held at F-9 Park and the E-9 sector( my very own sector) cricket ground. Although the ground is near to my home but I still haven't gone to watch one of the matches( the reason being too lazy to move around)!
Anyway I tried to see one of the match today between Pakistan and England, but when I reached there the match was already over and England was already packing to go back to their hotels, while the Pakistani team had already left. I will try again tomorrow to watch a match. Anyway I later found out that Pakistan had won.
My point here is not just reporting the event but to creat awareness about blind people and their difficulties. How many times in our lives do we thank Allah for giving us two eyes to see this beautiful world, so vibrant and rich in colours. Could a normal person ever bare to live without seeing his surroundings? I guess no! Well that's why God has created these people so that it reminds us of the bounties, the gifts and the blessings that He has given us. More over its also a test for us that we should help these needy people who need our constant support.
I have recently read that scientist have created a device that aids a visually impaired person to see which also include those which are totally blind. They can make out different objects around them through that device which is constantly modified to bring out a better version of it. I hope that one day blind people would be able to see completely.

Living without TV...

Since we shifted to our new home we didn't open our TV. So I haven't watched TV for around 3 or 4 months( except for the time when I watched it at other peoples houses). So my point is that people think that they can't live without certain things like TV, a PC or a mobile and I think that they are bull shitting!
For me it has been quite peaceful. I mean that TV wastes a lot of our time. So I have adopted reading which is a much better & pleasurable activity. Although I still count my self in the those people who are slaves to technology and who would consider there lives more painful without the use electronic gadgets( but livable).
Anyway I do like TV if the above script sugests that I am anti-TV. TV has its advantage because of the vast amount of information you can get on it. All the latest news from around the world and you know a lot of different things.
Who cares people can watch what ever they want but my point here was that we can live without TV if not without the internet!

Road to Peshawar

I just came back from Peshawar a few a hours back! It has inevitably started to rain from yesterday. Its raining in Peshawar and its raining here in Islamabad. So most probably its also raining in the rest of Pakistan. The temperature has dropped significantly. I had gone to Peshawar to attend my second cousins wedding. Although wedding ceremonies are meant to be enjoyed but I think this one was boring like any other. I don't know why I end up hating a get together(either a family or a friends one)!
I noticed quite a significant change in Peshawar. While I thought it would be the same or may be even more backward than before. I had been reading in newspaper about the actions of the MMA government in NWFP. I thought Peshawar would be more strict than ever! Women moving around in Burqas( Veils ) and men with beards and stuff like that. But what I find is less women wearing the Burqa and more opting for just a chadar( a large piece of cloth) without covering there faces. There are new big shopping plaza here and there with all the latest stuff apart from the shopping centre claimed to be Pakistans biggest. And then the ever expanding Hayatabad commercial area! You can find anything there. Any product from around the world. Either smuggled or imported.
And MMA was calling Islamabad the " the city of obscenity" or something like that! I also visited one of my khala. And there I met her husbands father. Hes an old man and almost imediatly started to tell old stories from his life, complained about lots of stuff( crime, corruption, blah blah blah, in short form Pakistan) and a lot of other things. One thing I would like to mention is that he said that Afghanis were the most baighairat( anyone for translating that) of all nations. They can do anything for money! Even sell there wives and daughters for the night. I don't know why have I written this.
Personally I hate these fucking Afghanis from the start who are destroying this country even more and are a fucking burden upon this already fucked up country!

Amnesia

I think a lot about things that I would write about in my blog. But usually a fail to remember them when I sit for writing!
I guess I have got "Amnesia" or something...
While I spent most of my life in a secured PAF communities, I had little exposure to the civil life of the general public. Last year while living alone in a big city for the first time gave me some good experience. Usually after school I talked quite less. I used to think a lot about different things( Although I don't remember nothing out of that). I don't know why I am writing this but I have to write something!
Last Saturday we had a soccer match. We haven't got much of a team but we play well. The match drew 1-1 but it could have been a win if it had finished on time! Anyway I don't want to go into details. Hoping to play another one before winter vacations.
Last week my dad went to Germany and I asked him to bring me a digital camera. Although he couldn't bring one but one of the companies that he visited gave him a camera as a gift( And its a canon camera). Once more Allah( God ) listened to me! And I couldn't believe it. Anyway now that I have got my own camera maybe I will be uploading more pictures and maybe some videos of my own.
Oh! I just thought about what I was writing and then saw what the topic was. I think I seriously have got Amnesia.

I am back!

So I had my last paper today! The paper didn't go as well as I had expected. Anyway what's done is done. I don't have much time so I just want to write about this news column that I read in DAWN last Saturday. It was truly an eye opener for Pakistanis. Here's some extracts from the column....

"Raising red flags is perhaps premature at this time, but is any one back home picking up signals and connecting the dots? “If I were a Pakistani, I would worry…there are frightening times ahead, said Seymour Hersh. “You guys are next.
It’s Pakistan’s turn after Iran. “Your nuclear programme is the target. This is no idle chatter. The sombre warning comes from a journalist well wired with intelligence sources, not just in the American CIA, but the Mossad in Israel, RAW in India and the ISI in Pakistan. The Pulitzer Prize winner has sources crawling around these intelligence agencies who gladly hand him classified information."
(This has been said by investigative journilist Seymour Hersh)

FM Radio!

Recently I have been listening to different FM radio stations. This is because currently I have no access to TV. So I have to quench the thirst for entertainment through radio( maybe the lines got a bit cheesy).
Anyway usually I listen to FM 89 and FM 91. Both of them mostly air shows in English. I initially liked 89 because of its much better presentation and much clearer signal, but at the moment I like 91 because of its much better content.
One of my favorite show is the Fasi Zaka show aired at 10pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays on FM 91. Yesterday Fasi was discussing things with the guest about different things. They had started off with discussing problems of middle class people and Fasi asked that what was the biggest problem faced by the middle class?
And she said that it was the transport ! I totally agreed with her. While I was living alone in Islamabad transport had been my biggest problem.
First of all the public transport in Islamabad is run by private van owners. So it sucks! There is no proper seating available in most of the vans. The space is all cramped up inside the van.
So my point is that its the responsibility of the government to provide trasport facilities to the public who can not afford there own cars. For god sakes its the capital of the country and you dont have any efficiant mass transit system!
A month back I read a news article that said that the government was doing something about giving a contract to some company( possibly Deawoo). I hope they do something about it soon.

ZIBAHKHANA - HELL's GROUND

www.zibahkhana.com

I recently came accross this horror film being made by a Pakistani Director Omar Khan(also the owner of the "hotspot" chain). I searched for it a few times and couldn't get much about it. The official website it self sucks!
The images shown there totally have an amateur look. From the look of it I think the movie is being made in Islamabad.
One more thing funny is the name of the company " Bubonic Films "! Could Omar Khan think of a better name? Anyway these are some extracts that some other people wrote.

"The film tells the story of a gang of teens heading to a rock concert whose path is blocked by a protest against polluted drinking water. Cutting around the protestors on a little-used country road, they run afoul of a family of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"-style psychopaths who slaughter them with relish."

"This will be produced by the horror film specilists bubonic films a sister company of pakistans no.1 ice cream parlour 'hotspot'."

Eid Mubarak!

I came back yesterday evening from Kohat. As its my hometown all of us(my family) had to go there on my father's order for the Eid! There are several reason due to which I do not like to go there. But none the less this time the trip was much better. Eid was as boring as ever. It doesn't hold the same charm for me any more. Maybe its because I have grown up or because I don't link to go there. Anyway the good thing that I like in my village is the respect given to me and my father. You have to meet every one and than shake hands and hug them even when you don't know them.
Although I like to visit my mamo jee's and khalas cousins(maternal uncle and aunt). I think what people call the happiness found in the family is to be found here for me. Theres always this atmosphere of euphoria over there. Everyone have a great time over there. The food is always tasty.
Then there is my cousin who is almost the same age as me. We(he,me,his bro and my bros) also went to Tanda dam which is located near Kohat. The area surrounding the dam is beautiful.Although the dam is beautiful but due to the local tourist it has been highly polluted. The concerned authorities should do something about it.
Its good be back home.

Rain

The day before yesterday it rained after several days. It rained in the night so I didn't really see it. I only woke up once when I heard the door banging with my suitcase. I thought of shuting the windows but I fell asleep instead.
Anyway in the morning the fresh air felt good. I inhaled a lot of it. The view of Margalla hills infront of my house looked great after several days. And there is some drop in temprature as well.
I welcome the winters with open hands(ha ha ha).

Earthquake Pakistan

Today last year a really devasting earthquake hit the northern areas of Pakistan(Heck everyone knows that! Why am I writing this?). Anyway I sat for a while thought about the past year. Time flys... (really really fast).
I read in the news paper that more 70000 people died! I hadn't thought over this before(Man its seventy thousand in an instant!). Dont U ppl feel the unlimited power of the god? Dont U feel how easily U could die the very next instant?
All I was doing in the last year was just running after my life. And I thought I was living a miserable life. I thought about the earthquake afectees and there lives. Theres still a lot to be done there. People are still living in tents and the harsh winter is comming upon them.
The more worrying thing than this is that "Is the government ready for something like this if it happens again?"
The answer I think is that its not! Adaquate measures havnt been taken to counter something as destructive as this. Well the thing is there are no counter measures for any thing. I hope things would change soon.
Heres the link to the yahoo article on the earthquake.

Pizzahut

I don't have much to rite so I think I rite about the Aftar at pizzahut. My classmates had planned to come to pizzahut today for aftaree. Initially it was agreed that there would be around 11 to 12 people coming but today we reached there were only 7 there.
Anyway we were taking the all you can eat deal! So I over ate. The whole place was jam packed! No place to sit.
I new thing was that my dad for the first time let me drive alone outside the sector! I also met one of my old friend, I think almost after 3 years although I didnt get to talk to him much.
Overall I think it was fun.

Yesterday a really out of the ordinary event took place in our school. I don't know much of the details but it was awesome seeing two girls fight. The slapping was pretty cool. There were even some videos made which I would put later(I still haven't got a USB port in my PC and it totally sucks). What was more interesting is that in the aftermath of all this, today one of the girls took a bottle and broke one end of it and threatened the other. They had both been called yesterday by the headmaster and they were called again today.

Awesome party!

Yesterday night we had a totally awesome party in the school. Everyone had a great time. A lot of people danced . The music was good but the food was average!.I arrived quite early for the event. There was nothing good to do so I watched the basketball match for some time. They were still setting up things when I arrived.
When everybody finally arrived and got seated the guy who organized the party cracked some jokes on the school administration and then there was this preview of the elections. It seems that Omar Haffiz is inevitably going to win for the president(not the one who we have nominated as the candidate, shit!).
Later we had food which wasn't as good as I had anticipated. Anyway soon after the dinner the dance started and everyone showed there skills(ha ha ha!). I only danced for a few seconds. Everyone was pushing and jumping.
Anyway after half an our of dancing the headmaster of the school asked everyone to head home. But there was this racing scene after the party so we first headed to the "Hotspot". After some time everyone headed to sector F-5 where there's a wide strip of road. It wasn't long before the tullays(cops) came by to check what was happening! We couldn't race there so everyone headed to the Islamabad highway. A few cars raced but it was fun watching the cars go at maximum speed.
One of races that was worth mentioning was the drag between the Honda Civic and a modified Daihatsu Charade which had a 1.6 engine in it. Anyway I was expecting the civic to win the race but it was the Charade that won!
Later I headed home. So it was a cool evening. I will put some photos maybe later.

Inter-city Rail Network in Lahore.

Today I read in the news paper that the city of Lahore is finally going to have an intercity rail network. The government was sayin that the project was going to be completed in about four years which would also consist of an underground rail somthing like a tube. But I dont think that its going to be completed that soon. Anyway lets see. Pakistan really need a good mass transit system in the big cities! Although Islamabad isnt that big as lahore and karachi but it also need an immediat form of transit system because of the large increase in its population and ever increasing traffic on the roads.

Traffic!

In the last 2 to 3 years a lot of people have noticed the large increase in traffic of vehicles in Islamabad. This increase can be associated to easy access of cars to the people through banks on easy installments! Due to this people have to wait for several minute at a single intersection. The Capital Development Authority(CDA) instead of making underpasses and overhead bridges is expanding the roads which do not help much. Pollution is also on the increase due the traffic increase. More over CDA has cut a lot of trees to make more roads which cause a further loss to the beauty of Islamabad. I hope some result oriented steps ar taken to curb this issue otherwise Islamabad is soon going to look like karachi and Lahore.

Encounter with death!

Yesterday while coming back from Skaser( a sort of a hill resort) I and my family had an encounter with death. We had quiet a fatal car accident. There wasn't much traffic on the road at that time so my father increased the speed of the car. It was not 15 minutes later that a truck started to turn right with out giving an indicator! The next sound I heard was of tires squealing when my father tried not to collide with the truck. We were very fortunate that our car collided with the tires of the truck instead of going underneath it and then going off road. After that we had half an hour of confrontations with the truck driver after which he agreed to give us the money for the damage that he caused. Anyway I would thank Allah for saving our lives.

Pakistani trucks look like one off these. We collided with one like the truck shown above.

Terrorism!

Yesterday the Pakistani government passed an ordinance which would enable women not to go into jails until they had committed murder or an act of terrorism. I totally laughed my head off when I heard this news. Our government is doing so much to make the American government happy that the word terrorism is being added after every sentence. The president talks about curbing terrorism while apparently there seems to be no such threat. Innocent civilians have been killed in the western parts of the North West Frontier Province. On the contrary our policy makers should solve the more important issues like the lack of availability of power. More and more power breakdowns happen around the country. People are getting poorer day by day and the prices of the basic commodities are increasing. The frustration among people is quite immense.

U can alway go on a hike on Sundays to enjoy a good work out and the beautiful environment and the greenry of the hills. The surroundings in the hills is always cool under the trees. I would start with the fact that the people of Islamabad are quite liberal if you compare them with the rest of the Pakistan. Most the population is educated and a lot of them can speak English fluently. Many have accepted the western ideas. Girls specially talk with a made up American accent.
Let me now tell you about the atmosphere in my school. Most of the students that study in my school can be presumed to be belonging to the upper middleclass rather than the elite class of citizens. A large percentage of boys and girls would mingle with each other and converse quite freely on various subjects.Boyfriends and girlfriends are quite common. Students try to be more trendy and fashionable to gain popularity and attract others attention.Music is a popular topic the teenagers here. Most have the latest information about the western music scene. Boy are particularly influenced by the rock music and the hip-hop culture. A lot of people in school can afford latest gadgets like expensive mobile phones. Portable mp3 players are quiet common and their head phones can be seen clanged to their ears. Some even own cars. Unlike the other cities Islamabad is quite liberal.Although I would say that we as a nation are losing our identity and culture.

For the next two years I had to do my A-levels from The City School. As I had already studied in this school I was looking forward to meet my old friends.I went to the school in the morning and confirmed my registration in the school. While confirming my registration another boy was also registring, who turned out to be in my class. This boy was to become one of my good friends in the future. I went to my class along with him on the first floor. There were only a few students at that time in the class, so I waited for others to come.I soon met with quite a lot of my old friends. My journey starts of with me sitting in a bus moving towards Islamabad. It was the first time I was traveling in a public transport bus. I was going there to study for A-levels which meant that I had to live without my family for the first time. I was going to live with my step-aunt who was living in sector G-10( Who is still living there) at that time I didn't knew them that well but I didn't have other options at that time.
The first night that I spent in there was quite difficult! I couldn't even sleep because of the thoughts that were racing through my mind. I kept on thinking about tomorrow and the things that I had to do. For the first 2 week that I spent in there I slept in my cousins room who worked in a bank and was usually out most of the time.
After being wake all night and waiting for the morning to come, I finally got up and started to dress up for school.
